"Bought the Union Flag in the middle size for our hallway. The cedar grain runs through the stripes and every edge is smooth to the touch. Knowing one man cut and sanded it himself makes it feel less like decor and more like something inherited."

Tommy J.
question_mark

What's it made from?

Solid cedar — chosen board by board for its grain. Nothing printed, nothing veneered. The colour is worked into the wood rather than painted over it, so it still reads as real timber up close.

question_mark

Will mine look like the photo?

Close, but never identical. Every board carries its own grain, so the pattern running through your flag belongs to your piece alone. The design, proportions and finish stay the same across all of them.

question_mark

Indoors or outdoors?

Both. The finish is built for outdoors, indoors, living rooms, kitchen. You name it!

The cedar grain runs right through the stripes. Photos genuinely don't do it justice.

Bought the Red Dragon for my father. He went quiet for a second, which says it all.

You can feel the hand-sanding. Every edge is smooth. Nothing about it feels factory.

Went with the 20 inch above the fireplace. It anchors the whole room now.

The Saltire in cedar is something else. Warm wood, deep colour, no cheap gloss.

Third one I've bought. Two were gifts. Both people asked me where I found it.

It smells faintly of cedar when you get close. Small thing, but I love it.

Peter working on a cedar flag in his workshop Veteran Owned & Handmade
One Man, One Workshop

Always Handmade, With Care

There's no production line here. No machine stamping out a hundred identical panels, no warehouse of stock waiting to be boxed. Every flag is made the slow way, by hand, by Peter.

He served in the British infantry, where doing a job properly the first time wasn't a preference — it was the standard. That habit followed him into the workshop. Boards get chosen by grain rather than pulled off a stack. Edges get sanded until they're smooth to the touch, not until they're passable.

It's the reason no two pieces come out the same. The cedar decides how the colour sits, where the grain runs, how the light catches it. Peter works with that instead of against it — which is exactly why yours will be unlike anyone else's.

Handmade takes longer. It costs more. And when it's hanging on your wall, you can tell.

Cedar, Not Cardboard

Built For The Wall You Walk Past Every Day

Most wall art is printed, packed and forgotten. This is solid cedar, shaped by hand, made to be the piece people ask you about.

🪵

Solid Cedar

Real cedar boards — never veneer, never printed panel.

Made By Hand

Cut, burned, stained and sanded one piece at a time.

Veteran Made

Built in Peter's own workshop, by Peter.

Ready To Hang

Finished for indoor walls, mantels and offices.

From Board To Wall

How Every Flag Is Made

Four stages, all done by hand. It's why no two pieces come out identical — and why that's the point.

01

Select The Cedar

Boards are chosen by grain, not by batch. The pattern in the wood decides where it ends up.

02

Cut & Shape

Each stripe and shape is cut and fitted by hand, then squared and dry-laid before anything is fixed.

03

Burn & Stain

Colour is worked into the grain rather than painted over it, so the wood still reads as wood.

04

Sand & Finish

Sanded through progressive grits by hand until every edge is smooth, then sealed for indoor display.

Good Questions

Everything You Might Ask

Solid cedar. It's chosen for its grain, its warmth and the way it takes colour without losing the look of real wood. Nothing is printed onto a panel and nothing is veneered.

Indoor only. The finish is made for living rooms, offices, hallways and mantels. Leaving one exposed to rain, direct sun or damp will damage the wood over time.

Close, but not identical — and that's deliberate. Every board has its own grain, so the pattern running through your flag is unique to your piece. The design, proportions and finish stay consistent.

There's no single spec. Each flag is cut by hand from the board that suits it, so thickness varies slightly piece to piece. All three sizes are substantial enough to read as solid wood rather than a thin plaque.

Three: 12" × 8" for shelves, desks and smaller wall spaces, 16" × 10.5" as the most popular middle option, and 20" × 10.5" when you want it to be the focal point of the room.

The back is finished flat, so a pair of standard wall hooks or a picture-hanging strip rated for the weight will hold it securely. Many people simply stand the smaller size on a shelf or mantel instead.

Dust it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes and anything wet — cedar doesn't need them, and they'll dull the finish. Keep it out of direct sunlight and it will hold its colour for years.

Peter does. Every one. He's a veteran of the British infantry who turned a weekend habit into a workshop, and he still cuts, burns, stains and sands each flag himself.

Hung it in the living room and it changed the whole wall. The cedar is warmer in person than any photo shows.
